“I love Haute Couture,
because she is a kind of halt of life. Haute Couture doesn’t like ready-to-wear
which prevails simply and also can be forgotten quickly. I hope my work could
be showpiece as museum collection, be treasure as palace jewelry, and be
masterpiece that will be handed on from age to age. Real Haute Couture is
eternal, long-tested, and, many years later, will be a kind of glancing back of
time. By that time, she could have a representation of the lost glories and
residual splendors, and give a reinterpretation of happiness I have had and
niceness I have created.” ——GUO PEI
