Guo Pei, China’s most esteemed haute couturier, brings her legendary elegance to M?A?C this year!
Guo Pei was initially inspired by a famous Chinese saying, “There is a kingdom in a flower; a wisdom in a leaf.” “I always find the power of the nature fascinating, especially when the flowers are blossoming.” The 16-piece collection will include lip gloss, eye shadow and blush in neutral hues and pops of blue, a color often associated with spring and vitality in Chinese culture.
Guo Pei has taken it one step further by accompanying the products with eight couture dresses.
On May 5, 2015, New York, “Garden of Soul” collection launch event was hold in an old villa built in 1920 near the New York Central Park. The process allegedly that took three years to come to fruition.
For both of M.A.C and Guo Pei, this is a very special design and cooperation. Invited by the worldwide famous cosmetics M.A.C, Guo Pei designed this new collection “Garden of Soul “and has been named as its newest beauty collaborator. She has designed a 16-piece collection, based on eight dresses. The fantastic dresses and elegance cosmetics were dreamily displayed in front of the world.
This new collection is named as “Garden of Soul”, which compares human’s deep soul to a garden. And this garden is the place where you can raise your emotion of happiness and beautiful feelings. Let the happiness like a flower blooming in your heart and soul.

What’s makes guopei decide to collaborate with MAC?
In my mind, MAC has constantly pursuit the ‘beauty’ and the concept of ‘beauty’. It also has no restrictions on my design during this cooperation, allowing me to have the space of free play. Moreover, it motivated me a lot of inspiration and ideas so that we can wipe out the spark and have such a perfect cooperation.
Is there any interesting story happened during the collection design?
One day morning, I saw a bunch of budding flowers at home with the morning dew, pink and charming, like the instant that a baby just opened his eyes. Suddenly, everything is enlightened. I thought to use gorgeous color to express the series of joy and pleasure, which can make people in a good mood and transfer happiness with color.
Point of view of Beauty? Who is the most beauty woman in her eyes?
In the career of design, Beauty has different feelings in different periods. I think beauty needs history and culture background, which will keep the beauty of the time and also reflect the history after a long time. Beauty is beyond the youth, beyond the age. It can overcome all the difficulties and is not afraid of the time. It is still full of hopes and courage, also sharp and elegant, so it can achieve the beauty of brilliant. Beauty derives from heart, if people see and feel the world wonderful, they will gain better things. The real beauty is inside. The Most beautiful women are those who have experienced hardship of time but can reveal the essence of time.
With this collection, how kindly beauty look she hope to create for woman?
I designed a set of clothing named ‘garden of the soul’, comparing the inner world to a garden, in this garden you can breed happiness and wonderful feelings from heart. The things that I want to build is a set of dreamy atmosphere, women just like elves, their hearts bloom out beautiful flowers and are full of happiness.
